The new WordPress editor, called Gutenberg, is being developed from scratch and promises significant impacts across the platform’s ecosystem.

What you need to know about Gutenberg
Gutenberg is the name of the project. It will be the great landmark of WordPress 5.0. It can now be tested through a plugin. Finally, we will be free of page builders.
The codes and all the development is on Github. All of the current plug-ins and themes will need to be adapted to take advantage of the possibilities that will come.
JavaScript in the epicenter
The platform increasingly uses the JavaScript language. It is the present (we cannot yet say “future”) of the web.
Matt Mullenweg, co-founder of the platform, annually performs “The State of Word”. By 2015 he advised the community to learn JavaScript, and quickly, by the way.

The concept of blocks
Gutenberg uses the concept of blocks to structure the page information. The same concept will be replicated to the entire interface of the website that is using WordPress.
Several blocks will be native and, through new plugins, can be added to meet the most varied needs. The subject industry will have a great challenge to tailor its product base.

To think about Gutenberg
Gutenberg is at the beginning of its development. Many reviews have been made, but I find some criticism premature. However, they have been valid to guide the team dedicated to the project.
Core inclusion, starting with version 5.0 of the WP, will be a milestone and will allow for various analyzes and contributions. From now on, we will see improvements with each new release.
