RGB Color Space
“RGB Color Space” or RGB Color system builds all colors from the combination of red, green and blue colors.
The use of red, green and blue (8 bits each) have integer values from 0 to 255. This makes 256 * 256 * 256 = 16777216 colors possible.
RGB ≡ Red, Green, Blue (Red, Green and Blue)
Each pixel on the LCD monitor displays colors in this way by combining red, green, and blue LEDs.
When the red pixel is set to “0” (zero), the LED is off. When the red pixel is set to “255”, the LED is fully on.
Any value between them defines the partial light-emitting LED.
RGB Colors, Formats and Calculations
RGB code has 24 format bits (bits 0..23):
RED [7: 0] | GREEN [7: 0] | BLUE [7: 0] | |||||||||||||||||||||
23 | 16 | 15 | 8th | 7th | 0 |
- RGB = (R * 65536) + (G * 256) + B, (when R is red, G is green and B is blue)
Calculation Examples
RGB White Color
White RGB Code = 255 * 65536 + 255 * 256 + 255 = #FFFFFF
RGB Blue Color
Blue RGB Code = 0 * 65536 + 0 * 256 + 255 = # 0000FF
RGB Red Color
Red RGB Code = 255 * 65536 + 0 * 256 + 0 = # FF0000
RGB Green Color
Green RGB Code = 0 * 65536 + 255 * 256 + 0 = # 00FF00
RGB Gray Color
Gray RGB Code = 128 * 65536 + 128 * 256 + 128 = # 808080
RGB Yellow Color
Yellow RGB Code = 255 * 65536 + 255 * 256 + 0 = # FFFF00
