Generally in WordPress, email sending is done on many occasions – registration of new users, reset passwords, posting comments, amending Articles, etc. However, there are times when you do not want to receive any messages, for example:
- Creation of demo sites, where users can perform different functions, after which the system sends an email;
- Completion of the functional testing or work sites with real customer data (expelled to their personal mail);
- Bulk loading/processing project, in which the WordPress notifications are triggered;
To solve the problem, Stop Emails and Disable Emails plugin can be used. You can use any of them.
Stop Emails
Module Stop Emails prohibits sending notifications in WordPress, which are generated by the kernel, plugins or themes and use wp_mail () function for this. If the delivery is made through other mechanisms, or directly through the mail (), the message will go away.
The current release supports the latest version of the plugin and minimal WordPress 3.6. The rating module is high, downloads a little more than 1000. After you install and activate in the admin panel, it appears under the settings menu.
Here you can enable the creation of log files for the plugin. Also, a warning is displayed on every page that the procedure of sending email notifications is disabled.
Disable Emails
The second solution – Disable Emails. It also has a higher score, more than 1,000 downloads and related system requirements (from 3.6.1 to the last 4.5.2). The prohibition of sending all notification is generated through wp_mail () function. Even password recovery messages (note this!).
There are no settings, blocking send email to WordPress is carried out automatically after activation. Too bad that in the admin panel there is no warning about the prohibition of sending mail – if the site is engaged with another developer, he cannot see this feature.
In general, the two modules do their job. I have been actively applying it in practice, the first one (Stop Emails), but only because it was found earlier. I do not think that the solution strongly differs among themselves.
